Science

Science at Alameda builds each year on the work done in previous years, gradually
increasing the depth and detail. Pupils follow ‘Schemes of Work’ which are based on the
QCA Schemes but which are written by Alameda staff to suit the particular needs of our
pupils. The topics in each year include work from Biology, Chemistry and
Physics.
There is a high emphasis on practical work which takes place in dedicated
science laboratories where the pupil work individually, in pairs or in small groups
depending on the task. They learn how to plan, predict and carry out
investigations safely, they record their results appropriately and use scientific
language to explain their findings. As part of recent new building work the school has
three purpose-built fully equipped science studios.
