Values Awards/Postcards

Values Postcards

This is an ongoing initiative, where pupils are nominated for showing the value of the month.

It is not operated on nominating one girl and one boy from each form, but on acts demonstrating the value as seen by members of staff.

The nominations are then checked and then a values postcard representing the value of the month is posted home. The pupils are not told, so that they too can enjoy the moment of surprise and pride in the privacy of their own home.

There is a large display cabinet in the foyer of the school, showing all the values in the form of a tree. The faces of those who have received a values postcard are on a leaf on the tree.

We are very proud of our pupils at Alameda and especially so of those who receive a values postcard.

Values Vouchers

In September 2016 we introduced ‘Values Vouchers’ through assembly time. They have had an immediate positive impact and have proved very popular amongst pupils, staff and parents alike.

After consultation with the school council, it was decided that the values vouchers:

  • are awarded to anyone who has notably modelled the’ Values’
  • can be nominated by both pupils and staff, though a staff member issues the voucher
  • printed in the house colours
  • represent a house point for their house
  • have a central collection point
  • should easily been seen to be accumulating to encourage others
  • names are drawn out during the termly celebration assemblies for a reward
